The newly developed diagnostic module is designed to optimize the operation of peeler centrifuges, improve product quality, and reduce manufacturing costs. The module supplements existing centrifuge control systems and allows monitoring as well as product-specific control of the machine.
A process computer compares the level (using an ultrasonic sensor) and the feed rate (both measured online) with a physics-based filtration model whose parameters are automatically adjusted during operation of the centrifuge.
On this basis, the solid-concentration and the specific resistances of the filter cake in the rotating drum are calculated and the results used to adjust the feed rate or to control the various cycle steps.
Consequently, the separation process is performed in the optimum operating range of the centrifuge, which is very important, particularly if there are frequent product changes.
An experimental centrifuge with diagnostic unit is available for off-site assessment of potential.
