“Bayer Technology Services was an essential partner in overcoming this technological challenge - from development to preparation for industrial production”
Dr. Rainer Sonneck, Bayer CropScience, Environmental Science Innovation, Head of Product Development Pest Management & Vector ControlNearly half the world’s population lives in regions where there is a risk of contracting malaria. In many of these regions, nets provide important protection against the Anopheles mosquito. Bayer Technology Services has made valuable contributions to the development of a new generation of these mosquito nets.
Today’s advanced mosquito nets are treated with insecticide. However, they are in frequent need of improvement because the requirements of the WHO are becoming increasingly stringent. For example, one challenge is to combine high tear strength with a pleasant feel. At the same time, the effectiveness of the nets must not be reduced even after 20 washings. Bayer Technology Services and Bayer CropScience dedicated themselves to these tasks in a cooperative effort...

“They really thought of everything in the planning phase and did not forget a single thing. You can commission Bayer Technology Services and simply let them get on with it.”
Dr. Piet Scheeren, Project Manager, Xstrata ZinkAnyone wanting to employ a new process industrially for the first time while under time constraints needs a partner it can trust. Xstrata Zink GmbH decided to call on Bayer Technology Services. The two companies have known each other since 2006. At that time, Xstrata asked the Bayer company to optimize a plant in which the sulfur dioxide released during the zinc roasting process is captured to produce sulfuric acid. In early 2010, it was a technology that was completely novel and was not yet in use anywhere in the world ...

“We have strict requirements for fast and cost-efficient material development, an area in which the modeling expertise of Bayer Technology Services has been very helpful”
Dr. Karsten Danielmeier, Bayer MaterialScienceGreat things can be accomplished by combining theory and practice. On the basis of suitable experiments, experts are more or less able to predict certain properties of a substance before the substance even exists. Practical experience is also invaluable.
Developments at Bayer MaterialScience include holographic films for additional applications. Identifying the most suitable substances - in other words, the optimal functional chemicals - for these films would have required countless laboratory experiments. Fortunately, Bayer MaterialScience was familiar with the modeling capabilities of Bayer Technology Services ...

The pharmaceutical company Pfizer was working on an innovative therapy for Hepatitis C. As part of the process, they consulted the team from the Systems Biology & Computational Solutions Competence Center at Bayer Technology Services. The goal was to predict the effectiveness of the therapy even before the clinical trial...

“We really have a lot to thank Bayer Technology Services for”
Dr. Wolfgang Bäcker, Site Manager Muttenz
Bayer CropScienceWhen companies notice that their processes are not running efficiently enough, they have already taken the first step toward improving the situation. But they frequently lack the time and experience to take the second step. In these cases, the Process Technology team is the best partner.
Bayer CropScience produces three different active substances for pesticides at its Muttenz site in Switzerland. Several thousand tons annually. With such quantities, the company is naturally constantly asking itself whether the production process could be made even more efficient. This specific case involved the production of trifloxystrobin - the active ingredient that has made the Flint fungicide a worldwide success...

“The unique feature of Bayer Technology Services is its abundant supply of specialists who also know their way around internationally. That helped us a great deal on our China project”
Dr. Markus Weber, Vice President Technology, Ineos PhenolSite master planners play an important role at Bayer Technology Services. The experts optimize existing plants when they start running up against the limits of their capacity. And they design new plants on greenfield sites.
Third-party companies also rely on the technical know-how and operating expertise of the site master planners at Bayer Technology Services. For example, the world’s largest producer of phenol and acetone: Ineos Phenol. The company wanted to relocate an existing process along with all its new equipment to a new plant in China. A recommendation led the company’s decision-makers to Bayer Technology Services for advice - with their own site master plan already in their pocket ...
