Mixing Technology
We provide solutions for your stirring tasks!
Our approach
Our main capital is our decades of ever-growing experience in solving process engineering problems in the polymers, chemicals and life science sectors. It is supplemented by state-of-the-art technology for research, planning and implementation.
The Mixing & Stirring Technology group of Bayer Technology Services has the following resources:
- comprehensive databases of measured data and correlations for the design of virtually all stirrer types in use today;
- advanced simulation tools for optimizing stirred tanks, e.g. for integral balances and cell modeling;
- high-performance laboratory and pilot units for model experiments between 0.1 and 1,000 liters;
- its own analytical laboratories for trials using original substance systems under operating conditions;
- a broad spectrum of methods for characterizing mixing processes, e.g. power input, mixing time, residence time distribution, mass transfer coefficients, minimum suspension speed, etc.
Our spectrum of methods further includes:
- modern flow measurement technologies, e.g. laser Doppler anemometry (LDA: point measurement) and particle image velocimetry (PIV: field measurement);
- decoloring methods and laser-induced fluorescence (PLIF) for measuring macro-mixing efficiency;
- fast, competitive reaction systems for quantifying local micro-mixing efficiency;
- advanced particle analysis for disperse systems (10-1,000 ìm), suitable for offline and online use;
- mobile vibration measuring techniques.
