Kinetics and Modeling
Our approach
We are equipped with advanced measuring techniques and apparatus to produce the appropriate data and models for your reaction systems.
Our methods and equipment include:
- reactors of different materials (HC4, V4A, Ta) for pressures up to 250 bar and temperature control from -40 °C to 300 °C with mixer types suitable for scale-up; in part equipped with loop and online IR/NIR, density and refractive index sensors, and ATR-IR measurement systems;
- special reactors for kinetic studies of heterogeneous catalytic processes (cage reactors, tubular reactors for up to 1000 °C with online GC detection, etc.);
- combined heat balance/heat compensation calorimeter for isothermal, isoperibolic/polytropic, or adiabatic operation; reaction temperatures from -110 °C to +300 °C; pressures up to 50 bar; combination with online Raman or online FT-ATR possible;
- stopped-flow FTIR apparatus for monitoring fast gas-phase reactions up to 450 °C; measuring frequency 10 ms; mixing times less than 5 ms;
- stopped-flow ATR-IR apparatus for monitoring fast homogeneous and heterogeneous reactions up to 200 °C and 50 bar. Combination with video microscopy for determining phase boundaries in heterogeneous systems;
- analytical methods (GPC, HPLC, GC-MS, headspace GC, UV).
Software:
- gPROMS®;
- Aspen Custom Modeler®;
- Speed-up®;
- PREDICI®.
We take an iterative approach to measuring data, combining modeling and experimentation. We utilize various methods and online measuring techniques. This guarantees generation of reliable experimental data and modeling results that can be safely transferred to production.
