Our service …

Our High Viscosity Technology section offers expertise and many years of experience in all processes where special technology for fluids with high viscosities and complex rheological behavior is necessary. In many cases, the materials that we deal with are polymeric materials, but high-viscosity technology can also be necessary for non-polymeric materials and material mixtures. We thus have extensive experience with processing (mixing, kneading, molding) suspensions and pasty systems with a high solids content.

Our know-how covers the following eight high-viscosity processing operations. These can generally be performed on a continuous basis, either individually or in a variety of combinations:

  • mixing;
  • expelling, de-watering;
  • devolatilization;
  • removal of residual volatiles;
  • reacting;
  • crystallizing;
  • melting;
  • molding.

Extrusion technology is one of the major fields of our activity. Twin-screw technology, in particular, evolved to a large extent from the patent awarded to our group in 1944, and has been continuously refined using both experimental and theoretical methods ever since.
