Fluid Dynamics
Experimental and Computational Flow Analysis
Our approach
Whether laboratory or in-situ experiments, whether design calculations or CFD simulations, we have the stateof- the-art equipment required for processing your jobs. Our laboratory equipment and methods include:
- particle image velocimetry (PIV) for the twodimensional measurement of flow fields;
- laser Doppler anemometry (LDA) for measuring flow velocities and turbulence intensities with high temporal resolution;
- hot film anemometry (HFA) for high temporal resolution study of gas flows;
- laser light sheet studies for flow visualization.
We also have mobile devices available for in-situ measurements in your plant, including:
- ultrasonic flow meter for non-invasive measurement of the volumetric flow of liquids in pipes between 80 and 5,000 mm in diameter;
- hot film anemometer for the determination of gas velocities;
- vane anemometer for the determination of the velocity of liquids and gases;
- Schlieren optics set-up for the investigation of supersonic flows at nozzles and injectors;
- Prandtl tubes for the measurement of dynamic pressure using a micromanometer;
- fog machines for marking air flows;
- field intensity meter for the investigation of electrostatic charges.
We use the FLUENT software suite for flow simulations.
