Our service ...

Industrial processes and the material variety of products in the various sectors of industry would be inconceivable without the use of catalysis. With the help of catalysts, it is possible to specifically create useful products while avoiding the occurrence of undesired secondary products and eliminating wastes. Today, at least one catalyst is required in the manufacture of more than 90% of all chemical products.

Bayer Technology Services can provide you with a full service package in the field of catalysis. We offer support in the manufacture and characterization of catalysts (see also our product “Characterization of catalysts and functional materials”) and have available the right equipment for the rapid screening of catalysts and modern tools for developing experiment planning strategies. Detailed measurement enables us to determine all the relevant performance data of catalysts such as activity, selectivity and lifetime. Among the traditional core competencies of Bayer Technology Services are the design and simulation of reactors for catalyzed processes (see also our product “Reaction Engineering”). Our experience can also help you find a quick solution to problems of unforeseen operational states in catalyzed processes. In contrast to many other service providers, we are able to provide support for catalyzed processes throughout their entire life cycle.

Our services in this field include:

  • consultancy, evaluation and support in the selection of catalysts;
  • manufacture and shaping of catalysts;
  • structural characterization of catalysts, also under reaction conditions;
  • catalyst screening and feasibility studies;
  • determination of structure/property correlations;
  • life assessment and regeneration of catalysts;
  • support in solving operating problems, fault analysis and troubleshooting;
  • catalytic reaction engineering: design of catalyst pellets and reactor modeling.

Of course, we also have the capability to develop entirely new catalyzed processes.
