Our approach

Bayer Technology Services uses state-of-the-art simulation tools for modeling distillation processes and entire plants. We also have the know-how required for designing commercial-scale equipment.

We validate the process concepts in our laboratories:

  • more than 400 m 2 of laboratory space on six floors;
  • column heights up to 10 meters, i.e. ca. 100 theoretical separation stages;
  • column diameters from DN 30 to DN 100;
  • columns and column internals made of various materials (glass, metal, ceramics, etc.);
  • operating pressures from 1 mbar to 30 bar (abs.), operating temperatures up to 250 °C;
  • safety equipment for all applications in the; chemical industry.

We offer competent scale-up of distillation columns and expertise in special processes, such as extractive distillation, reactive distillation, divided wall column, stripping columns, thin-film evaporation, hybrid processes and process gas treatment.

We are a member of the Fractionation Research Institute (FRI), the only independent institution for the study of commercial-scale column internals.
