Our approach
The development and optimization of your process is performed by small teams of experts brought together specifically for your project.
We assign experts from various disciplines as required by the project parameters. Whether simulations and/or experimental work are required, we have the right people for the job. If necessary, we can also assign experts from Engineering &Construction to the team.
We are equipped with the following:
Simulation tools1)
- commercial simulation tools such as the Aspen Engineering Suite from Aspen Tech for the detailed analysis of batch and continuous processes; also eM-Plant™/Visopt Process™ for material flow analyses;
- numerous special simulation tools for polymer evaporation, fluidized bed driers, spray driers, the design and operation of screws, flow simulations, etc.;
- extensive physical properties databases.
Experimental facilities1)
- two large pilot facilities for experiments on a scale from 1 to 1,000 kg/h;
- more than 70 laboratories for distillation, extraction, membrane technology, vaporization, filtration, drying, materials data and reaction kinetics. Many of these laboratories are equipped to world-leading standards.
Cost estimates1)
- Bayer’s investment cost estimation method INKOS: The INKOS database covers Bayer Group capital investments over the past ten years. This estimation method is maintained by a dedicated team in Engineering & Construction.
- Methods for economic potential evaluation: Manufacturing costs, cash flow, net present value, ROI, etc. are determined in accordance with customer requirements. These tasks are performed in our own specialist competence center which also supplies independent data for Bayer’s capital investment projects.
