Bayer Technology Services at ILMAC 2010
Bayer Technology Services is appearing at ILMAC, the industry trade fair for research and development, environmental and process technology in pharmaceuticals, chemicals and biotechnology, where it is presenting its practical methods and strategies for enhancing efficiency and reducing costs (Hall A1.0, Stand B02). The focal point is BayOpX®, the operational excellence approach from Bayer Technology Services. BayOpX® plays a decisive role in improving the profitability of production plants. Bayer Technology Services bundles asset management and plant availability, the use of raw materials and product quality, energy and resource consumption, inventories optimization and operator training into this program.
Another focal point of the company’s presence at the trade show is the area of flow chemistry. This is based on process intensification, such as microprocess technology, and comprises all process technologies for the development of continuous production processes. Flow chemistry accelerates process development in the lab, facilitates the scaling of processes and makes it possible to implement highly efficient and flexible manufacturing concepts in production.
Also on display is the process-optimized cell cultivation technology, BaySHAKE®. With this innovative, single-use bioreactor platform, Bayer Technology Services has developed a hydrodynamic movement concept for surface or membrane gassing. It ensures an easily scalable oxygen supply and mixing of the cell culture solution without entrainment of bubbles, i.e. with particularly low shear, and eliminates the need for internal moving parts. The technology platform currently comprises very simple and inexpensive bioreactors for surface gassing. BaySHAKE® bioreactors are marketed in cooperation with Sartorius.
Other highlights are the SpectroBAY® and BaychroMAT® process analysis technology platforms. The new BaychroMAT®-LAB is being exhibited as an innovative product for online bioanalytics. The compact device offers fully automated sterile sampling for glass and single-use bioreactors and organizes transport of the sample to the downstream analysis device or to cooled sample storage. BaychroMAT®-LAB thus makes it possible to use leading edge online analysis technology providing the user with valuable process data even for process development in the lab.
SpectroBAY® is an online NIR spectrometer with fiber optic technology for connecting multiple, individually configurable measuring probes and cells to enable online process monitoring with both maximum flexibility and maximum process reliability.
As a user-oriented trade fair, ILMAC is intended for specialists from the pharmaceutical, chemical, biotechnology, cosmetics, food and beverages and environmental technology industries. It is being held in Basel, Switzerland from September 21 to 24, 2010.
