For more than 100 years, the Bayer name has been closely associated with the production of sulfuric acid and oleum. During this time, Bayer has worked continuously to improve the process. The Double Contact Process developed by Bayer has been the recognized state of the art process for decades.
Engineers from Bayer Technology Services were decisive participants in all investments made by Bayer in the past. The functions we fulfilled in this context ranged from owners engineering services all the way to the responsible execution of entire plant projects. Our employees have many years of experience in the planning and operation of sulfuric acid and oleum plants.
In 2006, Bayer Technology Services concluded several studies on the conversion of various contact process plants and completed the corresponding basic engineering. Detail engineering for plant modification has begun. These Customers operate plants for the production of sulfuric acid from smelter plants and by burning sulfur.
The new BAYQIK® reactor has been tested successfully for a customer. In line with the principle of „technological competence over the entire process and life cycle,“ Bayer Technology Services developed the process in the lab and then, after pilot testing, will implement it in fullscale operation.
