Our approach

In a variety of application projects, Bayer Technology Services has developed and tested a range of special data analysis processes tailored to the specific needs of the life sciences, process engineering and chemical research. These have been integrated into our data mining toolbox (DAMINEX) which is a comprehensive set of currently more than 100 advanced methods for preprocessing, analysis and validation.

They include:

  • subgroup and decision tree analysis methods
  • various cluster analysis methods
  • statistical validation algorithms
  • model-based pattern recognition (hybrid data mining)

A unique synergy potential is derived by combining data mining with neural networks, hybrid modeling and our design of experiment platform. This allows us to develop integrated analysis and prediction systems for chemical and biological structure-property relationships. From a broad range of mathematical methods, we can select the best combination for your specific application.We thus have available high-performance tools for high-end applications and a prototyping platform for the development of new methods. These can be made available singly in the Data Mining Workbench or integrated into pre-configured special tools for end users.We also offer the K.wiz system (thinkAnalytics, Ltd.). This software supports the graphic integration of data mining components into complex workflows and can be easily extended thanks to its open system architecture. DAMINEX components can be directly incorporated via an interface developed by BTS and integrated into easily operated analysis workflows, even for complex applications.Our range of software is completed by a series of application-specific data analysis tools which provide special methods for applications such as high-speed experimentation, QSAR and the life sciences.

The availability of flexible software tools with freely configurable analytical methods is of great importance in project work. They are the only way of effectively reducing the considerable effort of data preprocessing and ensuring the overall success of the analysis.
