Dr. Ralf Sick-Sonntag has led the engineering area of Bayer Technology Services since May 1, 2003.
He was born in 1955 in Langenau, Germany. He studied at Dortmund University and received a Ph.D in chemical engineering. He joined Bayer AG in 1985 and began his career as an area engineer in the rubber business group. Subsequently, he worked eight years for Bayer in several Latin-American countries as a managing engineer and site representative for Haarmann & Reimer and the rubber, OTC pharmaceuticals, and diagnostics business groups.
Dr. Sick-Sonntag returned to Germany in 1997 and assumed management of the specialty shops of the Bayer plant in Krefeld-Uerdingen. He was then appointed project manager for construction of a polycarbonate production unit at Map Ta Phut, Thailand. After the successful startup of that plant, he assumed management of the engineering department of Bayer’s Basic Chemicals Division in 1999.
